Sanija Rajagopal ' 21 Recognized for Environmental Research

Falmouth Water Stewards (FWS) is committed to protecting, preserving and restoring Falmouth’s bays, estuaries, salt ponds, and freshwaters through education, advocacy, and citizen science. FWS will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, July 18 at the Falmouth Public Library where it will award its first environmental stewardship award to Jayne Abbott of Waquoit for her work with estuaries. The board will also announce the creation of the David Palmer Scholarship Fund for Falmouth high school graduates pursuing environmental studies.

 
Max Holmes P'24, senior researcher and deputy director at the Woods Hole Research Center, will give the keynote address, titled “Listening to Rivers: A Global Journey to a Local Destination.”

This year's science fair winners of the Falmouth Water Stewards prize, Saniya Rajagopol '21 of Falmouth Academy and Milo Van Mooy of Falmouth High School will be recognized. In addition to the Water Stewards prize, Saniya won third place at Falmouth Academy's Science and Engineering Fair and went on to win a first place at the state level for her project, "Behavioral Response of Coral to Anthropogenic Noise."
