A Message from the Admissions Office

Thank you for your interest in Falmouth Academy. We look to engage with you virtually as the school is monitoring the COVID-19 virus situation and will continue to follow the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. With our students being back on campus full-time, we are currently unable to have outside guests and visitors touring the building. Please watch our virtual tour below and fill out an inquiry form to be sent a viewbook and additional information. There will be select days designated for individual tours when students are not in the building.  Please contact the Admission Office for more information.

Please also take advantage of the many opportunities to get to know the school, like our virtual information sessions, individualized and virtual tours, and personal interviews. You may also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or our website blog. These will give you a sense of our busy community—from what's happening in the classrooms, the annual Science Fair, on the playing fields, or the performing arts. Learn more about student accomplishments in all of the above!

Families come from Duxbury, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Plymouth on the South Coast, Martha’s Vineyard by ferry, and all points mid-to-upper Cape. We offer both transportation and financial aid to serve families of a broad geographic and socio-economic range. While our main points of entry for new students are 7th and 9th grades, we welcome students applying to other grades as well, space permitting.

We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to Falmouth Academy.
"Thank you for making the transition to 7th grade in a new school such a positive experience."  - 2020/21 Parent

Academic Overview

Falmouth Academy is a college preparatory, independent day school for students in grades 7 through 12.

At Falmouth Academy, we value balance: our students learn to work attentively and to play with enthusiasm. They practice a Haydn concerto with the same effort they put into writing an essay. They exercise their bodies on the sports fields as they exercise their minds in the classroom. They take advantage of new opportunities and challenges wherever they’re offered.

The course of instruction is rigorous, with a concentration on writing, close reading, research, and effective time management. Cooperative learning and independent research are central to the curriculum.

Each student is required to take English, history, science, mathematics, and a foreign language every year. Through our innovative Signature Program known as The Fourth Period, students also take up to four elective courses each year.

“We chose Falmouth Academy for our children because we value small classrooms that encourage discussion, a sense of community, participation in a diverse range of fine arts and athletics, and teachers who become mentors.”
- Jen and Greg Russell, Mattapoisett
