How to Apply

Our admission process

We are excited to learn of your interest in applying to Falmouth Academy!  We welcome applications for grades 7 through 12 and look forward to working with you throughout the admissions process.  The initial admission application deadline is February 1 for a March 10 notification.  Applications received after the deadline are reviewed upon completion.  Please contact the Admission Office for information about openings in select grades.  If you have any questions, be sure to let us know

List of 7 items.

  • Step 1: Inquire

Learn more about Falmouth Academy by filling out the online inquiry form.  The Admission Office will mail you a viewbook and other information about the school.  Look to also attend one of our upcoming admission events.
  • Step 2: Complete Student and Parent Application

We are excited to have your family start the online application!  If creating a Falmouth Academy online account for the first time through the MyFA portal, please email Olivia Riddiford who will create a username and password for you to access the online application and checklist.  Please note that there is both a student section and a parent/guardian section.

The cost of the application is $65 for domestic students and $100 for international students. The application fee can be paid online through the application portal.

While the Falmouth Academy online application is preferred, we also accept the SSAT Standard Application Online (SAO)
  • Step 3: Visit School and Interview

School day visits and interviews are scheduled each year starting October 1. All prospective students are required to spend a full school day visiting classes and meeting fellow classmates. The visit day is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., typically with the grade to which the student is applying. We match one of our current students with each visitor considering any shared interests.  Interviews take place on the same day as the visit.

To schedule a day visit and interview, log into your online Falmouth Academy application through the MyFA portal and view your Admission Checklist.  Choose your student in the left-hand corner to access their Admission Checklist page and select “Schedule a visit”.  Once you put in a request, someone from the Admission Office will confirm your visit.

If you are unable to schedule your visit and interview through your Falmouth Academy online account, please contact Sarah Knowles in the Admission Office
  • Step 4: Request Transcripts

Please request an official transcript from your student's current school.  The transcript should include grades from the last three years plus the first grading period of the current academic year
  • Step 5: Request Recommendations

To help the Admission Committee learn more about your student and his or her academic strengths, we ask to hear from your student's current English and math teachers.  Please send recommendation requests through your online Falmouth Academy application using your application checklist. PDF copies of the forms can be found on this page.

  • Step 6: Take the SSAT

While we take a holistic look when viewing your student's application, the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) allows us to learn more about your student's academic background.  All students applying to Falmouth Academy are required to take the SSAT. It is preferable to take this test on the October, November, December, or January test dates to meet our application deadline.  Please designate Falmouth Academy as a recipient of your student’s scores. Falmouth Academy’s SSAT code is 3112.

Falmouth Academy is a test center and offers the tests on the dates listed below.  Students must register for the test through the SSAT website in advance. Check-in on the day of testing begins at 8:30 a.m. with the test starting promptly at 9:00 a.m.  The test ends at approximately 12:15 p.m.
  • Step 7: Complete the Character Skills Snapshot (optional)

Character and personal growth are an integral part of a Falmouth Academy education. Grades and test scores just don’t tell us the whole story of your student. The Character Skills Snapshot gives us richer holistic information and illuminates areas where Falmouth Academy can help your student grow and thrive. For students who take the SSAT, there is no charge to take The Snapshot. Once you register for an SSAT, you will have access to The Snapshot. This is an optional piece to the admission application.
