Pianist Sara Daneshpour Live in Concert at Falmouth Academy on June 24, 2023, at 7 PM

Hailed by the Washington Post for creating "transfixing poetry” with her music, award-winning pianist Sara Daneshpour promises to delight audiences at her upcoming concert at Falmouth Academy on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 7 PM  in the Simon Center for the Arts.

Daneshpour plays a wide repertoire with depth and artistry, establishing her as one of the most refined artists of her generation. The New York Concert Review applauds  her "blazing technique, power, expressivity, imagination, and stage presence." Her performances have been described as "a powerhouse account, producing enough tone for two pianists in the process" by the Baltimore Sun.

Daneshpour has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Great Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and at other venues throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, Russia, Finland, France, Sweden, Spain, Israel, and Japan.

She received third prize in the 2017 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition, won the 2014 Seoul International Music Competition in Seoul, Korea, and was the 2013 Laureate of the ProLiance Energy Classical Fellowship Awards of the American Pianists Association. She won first prize in the XII Concours International de Musique du Maroc, second prize in the 2007 William Kapell International Piano Competition, and first prize and a Gold Medal in the 2007 International Russian Music Piano Competition. She recently joined the faculty at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Skylark in Concert

Grammy-nominated Skylark, “the cream of the American crop” (BBC Radio 3), is a premier vocal ensemble of leading American vocal soloists, chamber musicians, and music educators. Skylark’s dramatic performances have been described as “gripping” (The Times of London), “exquisite...thrilling” (Gramophone Magazine), and “awe-inspiring” (Boston Music Intelligencer). With “some of Boston’s best singers” (Boston Globe), the voices of Skylark “can sway you softly into calm and then all but throw you across the room with sheer harmonic force” (Thought Catalog). WH DIVERSITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

In 2004, the leaders of six Woods Hole science institutions signed a memorandum committing their institutions to work together to attract and retain a more diverse workforce. That memorandum established the Woods Hole Scientific Community Diversity Initiative. The initiative in turn established a diversity advisory committee (DAC) to make recommendations as to how the institutions can make the village a more diverse, more inclusive community. Falmouth Academy is proud to be an associate member of the DAC. Click here for information on DAC initiatives and events.
