FA's New Head of School David Perry

Chair Megan English Braga, on behalf of Falmouth Academy’s Board of Trustees and Head of School Search Committee, announced to the community on October 13, 2023, the selection of David Perry as Falmouth Academy’s next head of school, starting in the 2024-25 school year. The Search Committee, comprised of trustees and faculty members, has worked diligently over the last few months reviewing, assessing, and interviewing several highly qualified candidates to present four impressive finalist candidates to the Falmouth Academy community.

The process was thorough, extensive, and designed to ensure that all constituencies were well represented and their voices heard. The candidates met with faculty and staff, students, parents, past parents, alumni, trustees, close friends of the school, and the Search Committee, who provided valuable input.

The Committee, informed by feedback from the community and its own comprehensive assessments and evaluations, deliberated carefully and thoughtfully to select the leader best suited to build on Falmouth Academy's strengths and opportunities and meet its challenges. The recommendation for David to serve as the next head of the school was enthusiastically and unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees.

David is a seasoned educator and administrator with twenty-four years of experience within a diverse set of college-preparatory, independent, day and boarding, and international schools. His experience as an educator includes two headships, divisional and academic program leadership, and teaching and counseling experience. Prior to that, he spent eleven years as an attorney in the private and public sectors.

He is currently the Head of School for the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India. Prior to that, he spent five years as the Head of the International School Nido de Aguilas in Santiago, Chile. Earlier in his career, he served as the Head of Counseling at the International School of Beijing, Director of Studies and Interim Head of School at The Academy of Charlemont in Charlemont, Massachusetts, Middle School Technology Educator at Friends School of Baltimore, and a History Teacher at Northfield Mount Hermon School. David has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Clark University, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University.

The Falmouth Academy community was impressed by his diverse experience in a variety of educational settings, his thoughtful, inclusive style, and his relational approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

David and his wife Clare, also an educator, are looking forward to returning to the States after more than eleven years abroad raising their three, now adult, children.

“Coming to Falmouth Academy for Clare and me will feel like coming home,” said David. "We are beyond thrilled to join this close-knit community of inspired teachers and learners on a worthy quest to engage the challenges of our times. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get to it!”

Special thanks were extended to the members of the Search Committee: Monica Hough, Matt Barnes, John Heyl, Joan Holden, and Ried Heywood, for the countless hours they dedicated to the search process to ensure a successful outcome.

The Board also expressed its gratitude to the outgoing Head of School Matt Green for shepherding Falmouth Academy for the last six years with unwavering guidance, wisdom, commitment, and joy.
