A Message from David Perry

Dear Falmouth Academy Community,

 

I am writing to let you know that, for personal and family reasons, I have decided to resign as Head of School of Falmouth Academy, effective June 30, 2026.

 

This has been a difficult decision because of my deep affection for FA and my respect for the students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and trustees who make this school such a distinctive and meaningful place. I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for the trust they placed in me and for the opportunity to serve this community.

 

Over the past two years, we have made important progress together. We have strengthened our enrollment and marketing efforts, made important advancements in Development—including renewed momentum in annual giving and a stronger culture of philanthropy in support of the school’s mission—prepared for the next stages of reaccreditation and strategic planning, advanced the launch of the five-day boarding program, built an administrative team positioned to support the school’s next chapter, and begun important work on a Portrait of a Learner to help articulate the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind we seek to cultivate in every FA student. We have also continued to celebrate the extraordinary learning, creativity, character, and ambition of FA students. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and appreciative of the many colleagues, trustees, families, and students who contributed to that work.

 

Most of all, I am grateful for the students. Their curiosity, humor, talent, and willingness to take intellectual and personal risks have reminded me every day why schools matter. It has been a privilege to know them and to support their growth.

 

In the days ahead, I will work closely with the Board and school leadership to support a thoughtful transition. FA is a strong school with a devoted faculty and staff, an engaged Board, and a clear sense of purpose. I leave confident in the school’s future and in the people who will continue to advance its mission. I will be cheering for the school’s continued success and will always be grateful for the time I have spent as part of this community.
