I write today with the unexpected news that David Perry will be stepping down from his duties as Head of School, effective at the end of June 2026, for personal and family reasons.
While David’s tenure at Falmouth Academy has been brief, he has made meaningful contributions to the school. He has strengthened the administrative team that remains deeply committed to our students and our mission. He has continued to add to FA’s cherished faculty, paving the way for the next generation of adults who will help our students realize their full intellectual and emotional potential. David oversaw record growth in development, helped launch our five-day boarding program, and guided the school through the beginning stages of reaccreditation. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank David for his service and wish him and his family all the best...
I am writing to let you know that, for personal and family reasons, I have decided to resign as Head of School of Falmouth Academy, effective June 30, 2026.
This has been a difficult decision because of my deep affection for FA and my respect for the students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and trustees who make this school such a distinctive and meaningful place. I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for the trust they placed in me and for the opportunity to serve this community...
The Board is taking a deliberate two-step approach to leadership succession. The immediate priority is identifying an experienced interim Head of School who can provide continuity, and strong leadership, particularly in the areas of enrollment and boarding, during the 2026–27 school year.
The Board has engaged The Education Group and its consultants, Katherine Moncure Stuart and Laura Fuller, to guide both the interim selection process and the search for Falmouth Academy's next permanent Head of School. The permanent search process will include opportunities for input from faculty, staff, trustees, parents, alumni, and other key stakeholders to ensure that the Board fully understands the qualities and leadership attributes most important to our community.
Our goal is to conduct a thoughtful, thorough search while maintaining the momentum of the school's important initiatives and ensuring a successful future for Falmouth Academy.
We are seeking an experienced educational leader who can provide stability, support faculty and staff, maintain momentum on key initiatives, and help position the school for a successful leadership transition.
The Board is considering a range of options and has not made any decisions regarding interim leadership. Our focus is on identifying the individual best positioned to provide continuity and stability for the school.
The Board has engaged The Education Group and its consultants, Katherine Moncure Stuart and Laura Fuller, to offer their expert guidance on appointing an Interim Head of School.
Falmouth Academy's senior leadership team will continue to oversee the day to day operation of the school, working closely with the Board of Trustees. The school benefits from a talented and experienced group of administrators who are well positioned to provide continuity during this transition.
The interim Head will have the full authority and responsibility necessary to lead the school, support faculty and staff, oversee school operations, and advance key institutional priorities during the transition period. They will work closely with the Board of Trustees throughout their tenure.
The exact timeline will depend on the search process for the next permanent Head of School. The Board's expectation is that the interim Head will remain in place until the next permanent Head begins their tenure.
