School Year 2020-21

Covid-19 Response

Falmouth Academy began the school year in a hybrid model, with middle schoolers coming to campus every day and high schoolers alternating weekly between on-campus and remote attendance. Doing so not only reduced density in our corridors and other shared spaces, but it also allowed us to introduce and normalize a number of new practices and protocols with the benefit of fewer students and more adults in the building at any one time.

In considering all of the data, particularly our own run of good health, local case counts that remain relatively favorable, Falmouth Academy modified its model so that all students were on-campus through Christmas break with the exception of a measured transition back to campus after Thanksgiving.

This on-campus model will continue. However, it is contingent on the usual factors: should we determine that the increased number of students on campus precludes us from enforcing school protocols, or should school and local health conditions worsen, we are fully prepared to return to a remote model.

Prior to coming to school, parents, faculty, and staff complete an online health survey via MEDBOT. If they have symptoms, they must follow the COVID Health Guidelines. Questions about COVID should be emailed to

Covid-19 Health Considerations

UPDATED: January 20, 2021

We hope the following information will help familiarize families with Falmouth Academy’s response to various Covid-19 scenarios. Families, particularly those who live on the Vineyard or beyond the immediate area, are encouraged to consider their own responses to these scenarios and to keep their emergency contact information updated as we all work together to keep our community healthy while we navigate the challenges associated with the pandemic.
