Falmouth Academy Competes at DECA Conference in Boston


DECA is a worldwide organization committed to teaching students business and leadership skills in the areas of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. At the conference, students compete in over 40 individual and team events as well as attend information sessions on various topics. Over 3000 Massachusetts high school students attended this year.
 
Ben Schwenk ’19 competed in the International Business Plan division with a proposal for a dried fruit company based out of Uganda. Ethan Fan ’20, Jack Butler ’22 and Logan Moniz ’22 competed in the start–up business division with a proposal for a water-sport rental company on Cape Cod. All four students enjoyed the chance to present their plans to business professional. When asked about the experience Ben said, “Although we didn't take home any awards, we learned a lot about the process of creating a feasible start-up business. The opportunity to spend two days surrounded by business leaders in the heart of Boston was a fun and informative experience.”
