School Year 2020-21
Covid-19 Response

TESTING POSITIVE for COVID-19

If a student tests positive for Covid-19, parents or guardians must notify the school immediately and email Covid Response Team Coordinator Charlie Jodoin at (covidresponseteam@falmouthacademy.org) with the date of their positive test. Teachers should do the same and call Mr. Jodoin directly.
What if a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19?
Parents must notify the school via email to Charlie Jodoin at (covidresponseteam@falmouthacademy.org) that their student has tested positive and when; staff members must do the same with a phone call.  The student/staff member must remain at home and is required to isolate for at least 10-14 days. S/he may return to school after 10 days if s/he has gone 24 hours without a fever or fever-reducing medication, other symptoms have resolved, and received clearance from public health authority contact tracers (the local board of health or Community Tracing Collaborative).

How will the school respond to this notification?
The school will notify local public health officials and the FA community by email that a community member has tested positive for COVID-19 and when, and will notify by email and/or a phone call to anyone who is determined to be a close contact with that individual. Following the Department of Public Health guidelines, the school will close off any areas used for prolonged periods of time by the individual who tested positive.

What will a message from the school concerning a confirmed case of Covid-19 look like?
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The safety and well-being of our school community is our top priority. I am writing to inform you that there is a confirmed Covid-19 positive case within our community. The school has notified the Board of Health, and the individual is home and following isolation protocols recommended by the Department of Public Health.
Those identified as close contacts of that individual have been notified directly by Falmouth Academy and have been provided quarantine instructions. If you have not been notified, your student is not considered a close contact.
We continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide updates as necessary. As always, if your child exhibits any symptoms related to COVID-19, please contact your healthcare provider.
