High-Tide Tie-Dye Mariner Fashion

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, the latest cohort of Falmouth Academy students arrived at 7 Highfield Drive, Falmouth for orientation. Students and their parents or guardians were greeted at the entrance by student guides and escorted into Morse Hall for light refreshments, as well as an address from the Head of School Matt Green and Assistant Head of School Mike Earley.

Subsequently, the new students briefly met with their advisors before reuniting with their parents for a tour to familiarize themselves with their classrooms and meet their teachers. Following the guided tour and introductions, students convened in the library for icebreakers and a Q&A session, facilitated by the 23-24 Student Council Officers.

While students engaged in library activities, parents reconvened in Morse Hall for their own set of icebreakers, a technology tutorial, and a Q&A panel featuring School Counselor Jen Chamberlain, Academic Dean Petra Ehrenbrink, Middle School Coordinator Ben Parsons, Director of Learning Support Helen Reuter, Director of Athletics Matt McKinnon, Director of Technology Martha Borden, Arts Department Chair George Scharr, English and Drama Teacher Liz Ledwell, as well as FA Parents Association Representatives Nancy Thrasher and Mary Webb.

Student activities concluded with a tie-dye session on the front lawn, during which the new Mariners customized their own Falmouth Academy t-shirts before joining their family members and fellow students for a catered lunch.
