Students earn five art awards in Globe competition

Falmouth Academy students won five awards, including four Gold Keys — one for an entire portfolio — at The 2010 Boston Globe Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. The work will be exhibited in Boston, then sent digitally to New York City to be judged for the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Senior Kallie Leschen-Lindell of Falmouth and junior Matthew Carmichael of East Sandwich also received Gold Keys for gelatin silver print photographs, “Masquerade” and “Nets,” respectively (middle and lower left).

Scout Burchill, a junior from Buzzards Bay, received honorable mention for his sculpture “Tin Man.”

Gold Key work will be exhibited at the State Transportation Building in Boston Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.from February 1- March 19. Margaret Tew Ellsworth and Marite Burns teach art and Susan Moffat teaches photography at FA.
