77 KW Photovoltaic System

In September 2010, Falmouth Academy installed a 77 KW photovoltaic system on FA’s south-facing roofs. FA’s photovoltaic array consists of 333 Sun Power SPR 230 panels covering 3 roof surfaces totaling 5,020 sq. ft. The panels are facing a 206 degree azimuth (26 degrees west of south), on a 30 degree roof pitch. The 77 KW system was estimated to produce around 92,500 kwh/year which is 35% of the electricity the school uses annually. We are very pleased that in its first year the system produced over 102,000 kWh of electricity.

“The system is useful not only in our math and science classes and for our electric bill, but it is another way we can demonstrate our commitment to conservation and using alternative forms of energy,” said Headmaster David Faus.
