The Cape Cod Theatre Project brings together playwrights of new American plays with professional directors and actors—often straight from Broadway—for staged readings at Falmouth Academy each summer. This is an opportunity to experience the birth of an exciting new play before it moves on to major stages around the country.
Four plays will be developed in July at The Cape Cod Theatre Project, culminating in three performances of each play as staged readings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. through the month of July at Falmouth Academy:
July 7, 8, 9
The Dark Pines by David West Read, Directed by Ian Morgan
A young pop star returns home to Canada after another stint in rehab, and finds that her family’s snowy cabin in the woods is no longer the safe haven she imagined.
July 14, 15, 16
23 Feet in 12 Minutes by Mari Brown, Director TBA
This is a one-woman tour-de-force that follows six real-life New Orleans characters whose lives were irrevocably changed by Hurricane Katrina. July 21, 22, 23
Pookie Goes Grenading by J.C. Lee, Directed by Giovanna Sardelli
Pookie and her teenage gang of high school misfits are determined to make their movie a reality. Once they become the center of a national terrorist manhunt, there’s no telling how far they’ll go in the name of art.
