The Fourth Period is the center of our school day. For 70 minutes students step away from traditional academic subjects to explore an eclectic variety of arts, publications, service and other elective subjects ranging from Farm & Garden to Taekwondo, and from Forensic Science to Auto Cad—over 40 in all!
The Fourth Period is when we work with different parts of our brains, when students from all different grades come together to collaborate and create, and when our teachers share their diverse interests outside of their academic subjects. Intrepid seniors can apply to teach electives of their own design; some recent senior electives have included: Recreational Games; Chinese Language; Russian Language, Culture and History; Strategic Games; and 21st Century Survival Skills. Our superb music ensembles meet during The Fourth Period, as do our talented visual artists, and the work they produce here is showcased throughout the year at seasonal concerts and in rotating art exhibits.
