Session A (June 24-28)

Painting Impressions with Nora Gardner
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $295

Each day, the class will explore the art and painting style of a well-known impressionist, such as Renoir, Van Gogh, Monet, and Cassatt. Working in acrylics, students will learn basic techniques and proper care of tools through an exploration of the masters of Impressionism. Walks and sketching on Cape Cod provide plenty of inspiration for student masterpieces.

Discover the Cape Cod Shoreline (session A) with Gil Newton
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $295

This class will give students the opportunity to survey the marine plants and animals along the Cape shoreline, their ecology, and diverse habitats. The students will explore local beaches, salt marshes, sand dunes, tide pools, and rocky areas on several field trips to local ecosystems. Students will use field equipment to collect and study marine mollusks, crabs, fish, seaweeds, and other common species. This is a hands-on class and is designed to enhance a student's understanding of the marine environment.

Biking with a Mission with Abagail Bumpus
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $295

Explore the Shining Sea Bikeway and learn about the ecology and geography of Cape Cod. Students will also learn about our impact on the environment, basic bike maintenance, and (super importantly) the ice cream shops accessible from the bike path!

Fall in Love with French (session A) with Christine Carter
12:30-3:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $250

Travel to a French-speaking country with us through French food, songs, films, games, and much more! Reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills will be introduced during this course which is suitable for beginners, as well as students with basic knowledge of French.

Week A: We will start off with the basics of French–introductions, greetings, describing oneself, expressing likes and dislikes, numbers, colors, and several other building blocks. Activities will include songs, dialogues, arts and crafts projects, as well as a film. We will also take a trip to the French bakery to practice our expressions of politeness!

Fun Electricity with Guy Knapp
12:30-3:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $250

Learn by an expert from the basics up! Build your own batteries, design working motors, and learn about this incredible energy which powers most of our world! Learn about safety and create wildly fun electricity!

Fiber Art with Martha Borden
12:30-3:00 p.m., ages 7-12, $250

Class will begin with choosing materials, learning how to cast on, knitting and purling, and increasing and decreasing stitches.  Students will dye their own wool and add dimension to projects using simple embroidery stitches. The class will do some weaving and felting, too. Classes will take place both inside and out by the fish pond.
